Prenatal Yoga

Jodi has taught pre-and post-natal yoga since 2003. She studied under Colette Crawford, the founder of the Seattle Holistic Center and former obstetrics nurse. After completing the 100-hour training, Jodi began offering pre-and postnatal classes that incorporate asana and pranayama techniques safe for women in all stages of pregnancy. She also centered her classes around labor and childbirth, incorporating information, visualization and meditation.

Today, Jodi has developed a pre-and postanatal yoga training for yoga teachers who have completed their 200-level teacher training program and would like to specialize in working with pregnant women. The training is held over two consecutive weekends and the course study includes:

In addition to teaching pre-and post-natal classes and a teacher training, Jodi has developed a workshop for couples to prepare for labor and childbirth. This workshops teaches couples who are hoping to have an unmedicated, natural birth - whether in the hospital, birth center or at home - natural coping mechanisms during labor and birth. The workshop emphasizes movement and positioning based on yoga asana, breath work, massage, visualization and aromatherapy, which allow a woman's partner to be a strong and comforting source of support during the birthing process.
